What does it take to transform one of the world's largest insurance companies with AI? In this episode of the Not Just AI podcast, Pranay Agrawal sits down with Chetan Kandhari, SVP & Chief Innovation and Digital Officer at Nationwide, to explore how the company is modernizing insurance through AI while staying true to its mission of protecting people, businesses, and futures with extraordinary care. The conversation covers Nationwide's $1.5 billion technology investment, why AI must be anchored in business strategy rather than technology alone, and how modern data, cloud infrastructure, and workforce transformation are creating the foundation for enterprise-scale AI. Pranay and Chetan also discuss the evolution from predictive AI to generative AI and agentic AI, the importance of governance, explainability, and human judgment in regulated industries, and how organizations can build a "bionic workforce" where people and AI collaborate to make faster, smarter decisions.
